Thanks Panda's Pets for sending scout the box of mealworms! He enjoyed them very much!

In this video Scout is enjoying some mealworms that were donated by a new viewer after one of her pets passed away. Since Panda's Pets no longer had use for the worms or beetles, she donated it to us for scout. Scout's new sandbox is still not complete but I will be putting more of his stuff up this weekend. I hope you guys enjoy this cute video of Scout eating.

I do not condone anyone adopting a fox who's never worked with them before. If you're interested in doing that one day please watch my other videos below. I always suggest you go work or volunteer somewhere that has the species you would love to learn more about. This way you can learn what the animals are REALLY like and make a decision based off that. I've been working with these animals for almost 20 years and I see a lot of people wanting to own them after seeing my videos but the reality is that they do not do good in most homes, especially if you are not prepared to properly care for one. Scout is now 9 years old and I've had him as well as other foxes I've cared for in my past. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments below! I always love helping educate about these animals so they do not end up in homes like the ones I mentioned above.

I'm not going to put the warning here again since it's all over this video but I hope those of you who are actually sensible understand that this is an educational video showing how fennec foxes hunt and kill their prey. There are many other videos of fennecs hunting and killing their prey online but since it's usually bugs, most people don't have a problem with it. However, when a "cute" mammal is being fed off I know people get all upset. I would never take that away from him just the same as the animals at the zoo and wild have to eat their meals too. I believe that any animal kept as a pet should be taken care of in such a way that they get to live out their lives with the ability to act out most of their instincts. If you cannot stomach a video like this, please do not watch it fully through. I used to have mice as pets too, and I would have totally kept him as a pet if Scout didn't eat it so that he could live out the rest of his life. I did the same with my goldfish and a few species of roaches that I still have till today! See them on my other playlists.

Thank you guys for taking the time to watch this video and get a little more of an in-depth conversation about exotic pet diets. There are always extra things you need to think about and if you don't, it can lead to the animal getting sick and dying early. I’m not trying to get dramatic but I have seen a lot of people who just ignore all the information that’s out there and decide they are going to treat it like a cat or a dog. I hope that by sharing this information, it inspires all of you with exotic pets to look more deeply into the proper diets and necessities of those animals. Every species requires special care since we are taking them out of the environment they have evolved to live in.

For years I’ve offered roaches to Scout and he never wants them. I tried the recommended trick and it even though I’ve done it with other pets before I just didn’t think to do it with him for some reason. Sometimes we get stuck in our routines and it’s nice to have a friend remind you to change things up when the time is necessary. The good thing is that even if all of this information was incorrect about retinol being toxic, Scout still would benefit in the end because the roaches are going to be more nutritious for him and I never liked feeding him mice anyway and it was a rare treat. Crickets are a pain in the butt and I already feed him mealworms regularly so having roaches as a part of his new diet is great. I have also begun to give him some boiled sweet potato instead of carrots since I was informed that those would be better in nutrition as well. Guess what, he loved them! I love it when he tries new things and enjoys it since he’s always been so picky.

I would love to hear what you guys think about this subject. Now you can also see why I refrained from showing some clips of scout with his fur like that but it’s finally grown all back in and he’s fine! Next time I get a chance I will shoot a new video with him but for now I have a folder of new topics and older videos I wanted to share with all of you! Some of them were shown in this video for the first time.
